Mereka ini jahat!!!

  1. Fast Food (especially fries & cheesy fries yg aku ske sgt!!!)
  2. Doughnuts
  3. Chocolate
  4. Ice Cream
  5. Brownies and Cakes
  6. Kueh Mueh Melayu (yg walaupon nampak kecik tp menggemukkan)

Soalan: Kenapa Mereka nie Jahat??

Jawapan: Sbb mereka nie buat jeans saye jadi tight!! (and baju too, especially kat lengan)

So, saye telah berjanji dgn diri saye sendiri that I will avoid eating these food for the rest of June (except fast food la, sbb aku nampak ader harapan weekend nie makan McD with the family mase anta ayah pg airport nnti. It’s like a tradition la kot, kalau anta ayah kt airport je mesti makan McD or Burger King. Tp aku x akan makan fries langsung!)

And aku allow diri aku to eat roti canai once every two weeks sbb kat office aku ader bfast free hari jumaat and menunye ialah roti canai. Kalau every week pon x makan, cam anti-sosial la plak x bfast ngn officemate (oohh…ini ialah alasan. sebab sebenarnye ialah kari mamak tu sgt sedap!!)

Yg len maintain cam bese. 3 meals a day. Biler lapar in between minum susu / milo, makan yoghurt and fruits. Selama nie maintain camnie je, badan ngam aje. Skali tetibe syok plak makan brownies la, kek la, chocolate (dgn banyaknye) la, langsung bertambah lemak.

Dan kena stick to jogging, at least on weekends.

Good luck to me!!!

Below is a few calories content and exercise required to lose those calories from some of my fave food (I get this from Yahoo! Fresh Picks by Sarah Fuss. If by any chance Ms Sarah Fuss is reading this and want me to remove this info for whatever reason, please do e-mail / contact me.)

Seating Arrangement

Husband and I spent the long weekend in his hometown in Alor Star. We chose to take a flight rather than drive. While waiting for Gate 2 at Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Halim to open for our flight back to KL, I had the idea to write this entry.

I've travelled extensively (for my standard) since i've been attached to Bokor Project. Although I only travelled locally for my job, it is enough air travelling to know that a) I no longer like to sit in a window seat, b) I don't want to sit near the emergency exit and c) I don't want to sit in the last row because I've experienced these seats. My favorite is now the aisle seat that is not near the emergency exit and not in the last row. Other than these criteria, I really don't mind. Ohh...I also don't mind if i'm upgraded to business class or first class. :)

When I was younger and when air travelling to me was a REALLY HUGE DEAL, i really, really heart the window seat. I get to see the scenery outside while the plane is dashing across the tarmac for take-off, I lose myself while watching the clouds during the day and I get excited seeing city lights at night. I really like looking outside the window at that time. But after a zillion times on a plane, the scene outside never really change and you get bored. Plus, the restroom is a place that I visit a lot, seating in a window seat makes going to the rest room a challenge.

Now, FYI (at least for the domestic MAS flights that I've took) the last row and the three rows near the emergency exit (row 12 to 14 if i'm not mistaken) are non-reclinable. I really like sleeping in a moving transportaion, so non-reclining seats are not helping at all. So, I avoid these seats too.

So, under normal circumtances when I'm checking in, I'll say "Aisle seat please". Usually, when you specify your preference, the person behind the counter will get all chatty and say something like this "is 17C ok?". Knowing that 17 is not the last row and confirming that it is nowhere near the emergency exit, I'll respond "OK" with a smile.

Under abnormal circumstances, I'll ask the person behind the counter "seat mane lagi yg available ek?" for no reason at all. Then I'll be like "depan lagi boleh tak" and make a huge deal out of selecting a seat. Ohh believe me, if you put on a smile and talk in a chirpy-i'm-a-happy-person tone, the person behind the counter will treat your requests (no matter how silly) in a very nice way. This method is formulated and tested by me :)

Also, under abnormal circumstances, when the person behind the counter informed me that my seat is 17C, I'll be like "OK". This is me not in a mood at all (Naddie ialah xde perasaan, malas nak layan).

Like always, I know what I want right down to the seat I prefer. This help me get through the 2-hour-plus-ride-to-miri-or-labuan (am always going to these places for my job) solitary air travelling that I always had to endure, as most of the times I have to travel alone.

Travelling by air used to be big deal for me as I didn't get to do it that often. Now that it is just another mean of transportation, I missed these things;
  • When we were younger, if we are going somewhere by plane, we'll be all excited and wearing our best outfits cause it is a big deal. Now, I get on the plane with my most comfy outfit (jeans, t-shirt, most comfy pair of sandals - kadang2 selipar je, yg fancy sket la sbb naturally aku xde la selekeh sgt).
  • The adrenaline rush when the plane is speeding for take-off. I am trying very hard to feel that again, but no. Perasaan itu sudah menjadi biasa saje. Damm~

p/s: Those two picture are taken by me before take off from Labuan to KLIA. I was travelling alone at that time and the camera becomes my friend. Ohhh....that's the trip to Labuan when I bought prawns for the first time from Labuan to KL and the salesman cube nak ngorat aku. Siap sms tu coz his shop took my number as they send the prawns directly to the airport, which is a good service actually. But the salesman behaviour is not. Kinda funny tho, i'm beyond the age where I entertain random flirting texts from stranger. I'm married, duh~

Of A Tree

I like to doodle, especially in long boring meeting (or during my days as a student, during boring classes). This little masterpiece was created in a meeting sometimes end of 2008. That page is still in my organizer, that's why i can still remember. There's a date at the top right hand side of the page, but I dont think that's the date I created this. This is 'Of A Tree'.

Ohhh...I'm waiting for husband to be done with work already!!! Not that I mind him working late, anyway. I dont mind waiting for him either because while waiting for him I can work, shop and today I work a little and then I blog!!

It's 6 p.m. I love the office at times like this (other times like this include lunch hour on friday). A proof that an office can actually be a peaceful place to be (erk...because everybody else went home already!!)

Husband told me he'll call when he's done. I'm done with this entry so I think I'll continue with my work. But, I've met my KPI for today so I think I'll start with the stuff I planned to do tomorrow. Let us all be one hell of a fab employee :)

p/s: more doodles on the way. I've scanned three today~

Angels and Demons - Dan Brown

This is the third Dan Brown book that I've read, after Da Vinci's Code and Digital Fortress. I have to say that I like the first two books that I've read better. My husband loves this book tho, he's already started reading this book for the second time.

The main character of Angels and Demon, Robert Langdon (yeah, the same Robert Langdon as in Da Vinci's Code) and his female counterpart in this novel, Vittoria Vetra, has to go through a kind of like a riddle to find old churches, in order to save four cardinals. The rest of the novel evolves around them sorting out the riddles.

The novel was nearly 600 pages, and almost all describe the happenings of one night! Imagine that. The novel started when Langdon was awakened by a phone call very early in the morning and end at the same night except for the last few pages.

The movie is coming out in May, and i doubt that the movie will be able to outdo the book, but i'm looking forward to it anyway! I finished the book especially for the movie, so that I can compare :)

Lights Off!!

(Click above for bigger picture)
Twin Towers to go dark this Saturday, 8.30 pm - 9.30 pm in support of Earth Hour 2009.

Tower 1 embraced this spirit long time back by turning off the aircond and non-essential lights during lunch hour and also by doing the same at around 5.30 pm daily (i think la. Sape yg keje kat Tower 1 can confirmkan. Aku kadang2 je ader kt ctu sampai ptg) Staff who are staying late must request for power so that they dont have to work in the dark!!

Once, I had a meeting that dragged well after 5.30pm, suddenly the light was turned off. We had to move to a meeting area by the window so that we have some light and work efficiently so that we can finish before it's too dark to work. Some people might say it's not efficient for the working environment to have restricted working hour because the lights will be switched off at certain time. I say, work effectively during the time frame you have, because you can really complete your work in this period IF you put your head and body into it.

Putrajaya also will be turning off the lights at its famous landmark! Husband, jom kite pegi join!! Last week dah x dapat tgk hot air balloon~

The Other Boleyn Girl - Philippa Gregory

I put reading Angels & Demons on hold when I bought this book. I want to read this novel first. The first impression I get when I read the synopsis at the back cover of this book was that this is going to be a fast paced novel, old fashioned english (because the novel is set in the 16th century), and chick literature (even though it is 1500-ish chick lit). It has the elements that I love. Especially the old-fashioned part, I dont know why but I like the big skirts that the ladies wore way back when.

Well, as usual, I dont like to give synopsis, I'd rather give my views on this novel instead. For the review, please visit the author's website or as I always put it, just google it!

The Other Boleyn Girl is like a dramatized history based on the lives of 16th century aristocrats at the English Court as seen by Mary Boleyn. As these people actually exists way back when, some critics said that some of the things that happened or mentioned in the novel are not historically correct. But who cares! I like the novel :)

The chick lit part of this novel is the fact that Mary and her sister Anne are rival in an old fashioned way. By old fashioned i mean "I hate you, but I'm gonna act as if i love you so much and i am so gonna get back at you, when you and other people dont realize it. Or if they do, they gonna see it as if I am doing a good thing for you when actually I'm gonna get my revenge." Haha~ Throughout the novel, this pattern is apparent. Everybody is doing everything to move themselves or their family closer to the throne without appearing to be doing so, with always a sweet smile and sweet words to hide the mean things that they actually do to get their desires.

The other thing that is very prominent in this novel is that the King Henry desperately wanted a son and is willing to go to extreme ends in order to get one (that and a new wife)! This is really frustating when a daughter can be just as good (or sometimes even better).

In a way, this novel ader la buat aku sket rase geram because it seems that during the 16th century, women importance and sole purpose in this life is to conceive a baby, carry it full term and make sure a son comes out after 9 months. What the *#^@ !!!!

Well anyway, there is a movie produced based on this novel (starring Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman), and my next move is to check this movie out. It has been out since Feb 08 but I am yet to see it. I'd like to see if the history is twisted more in the movie. Hihi~

I started reading The Other Boleyn Girl on 28 January 2009
I finished reading The Other Boleyn Girl on 12 February 2009

p/s: nak sambung balik Angels & Demons before the movie is out in May 09 (kalau x salah).

Digging the Dancing Queen! - Nana, Nur & Mia doing our best impression as Donna

Abess sudah - so balik lah!!
Tp before balik haruslah makan!!! Yummy :)
We really enjoyed this show. Enjoy singing along to Money, Money, Money and Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia! of course. :) it was seriously like watching ABBA concert, in a live music video.
p/s: our PM also watched it on the same day we did! hmmm~

Bedtime Stories

Naddie pointers for Bedtime Stories:
  1. A classic Adam Sandler movie (funny, silly & dirty jokes - you'll laugh like crazy, he'll get a pretty girl at the end, things will work out for him tho not in the way he expected)
  2. The kids are really cute (i love their hair color - of all things).
  3. There are some parts in the movie when it seems that the characters were not so convincing, especially the part(s) when they were trying to save the school from being demolished. It's like "Ooohh our kids will have no place to study, but it's okay Adam Sandler is in this movie!! yeay~"
  4. The movie is flat except for the times when the children & their Uncle Skeeter were making up cRazY bedtime stories together & livin' their bedtime stories.
  5. Lesson: you can make up and imagine great achievements for yourself, but nothing will happen unless you start to take actions. Everything begins with you! Yeay!!
Graphic evidence that my husband and i watched the movie :)

Yes Man

Huh! I just realized that I have not give any comments on the movies that i've watched in this blog. I did this in my old blog, and this is one of the things that i loved writing (or commenting) about.

I always commented on movies in point form, so here goes;
  1. I group Yes Man as a 'tak payah pikir' (no thinking required) movie.
  2. It's funny, i think mainly because Jim Carrey is the leading star of the movie. Definitely not his best funny movie.
  3. The message is good tho - give yourself opportunity by saying yes rather than saying no & avoiding everything. The outcome might not always be good, but the experience is.
  4. I like Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (unrelated, i know)

I would not suggest you to watch it at the cinema, it's best enjoyed at home while you are getting comfy on your couch.

p/s - i dont rate anything. ratings are very difficult. i dont rate, i comment (and usually i have lots of them), so you can make your own conclusions.

The Memory Keeper's Daughter - Kim Edwards

The last book that I've read was The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. I hate secrets and this book is all about keeping a big secret.

This is a very good book. Not a very fast paced but it glued you to its pages until the end because you just dont know what's going to happen next.

It's about Dr David Henry and his decision to separate his own twins (a boy & a girl) at birth because the baby girl has down sindrome. He did this with no one's knowledge except his nurse, to whom he gave the baby girl to send to an orphanage. However, the nurse later decided to keep the baby girl. And the rest of the book develop on the effects of Dr Henry's decision to himself & his family (his wife & his son) and also on the lives of the nurse and Dr Henry's separated daughter.

It can be easily understood why Dr Henry did what he did. His little sister was also sick and died. He was saving his wife from the pain of seeing their sick daughter. Plus, this story was set in the 60's, which i believe people have issues of acceptance imperfection.

All in all, this book shows that how one's decision can affect many people and how sharing your problems with other people will not only help you but other people too.

p/s: This book has also been turned into a made for TV movie.

-- I donated 350 ml of my blood --

This happened yesterday. DD Health Day. There were talks, health screening and lotsa other health related stuff, but of course i was only interested in the blood donation :)

I've been doing this once a year, every year since 2004. it started as a group activity. Other people like to hang out, see a movie, bowling etc etc. We (the lords) like doing that too, but we donated blood when we get a chance. If one of us knows that there'll be a blood donation drive, then she'll get the whole group excited about it and make our boyfriends excited bout it too. hoho~

I remembered my high school biology teacher told me that it's good to donate blood, so that your body will generate new blood cells. And it keeps you thin :) I dont know how true this is, i have never been interested in biology, but it's good and it keeps you thin. So i'm in!!! :)

There's nothing much to it really. First you have to fill in a form. Basically they want to know if you are fit to donate. Then they checked you blood pressure to make sure that ur BP is ok, not high not low and then they take ur blood sample to know your blood type (I'm a B!!!)

Then you wait for your turn to donate.

When it's your turn, you lie down on the chair and the nurse will give you a round thingy (see below) for you to hold. I think this is so that the nurse can easily identify and see your blood vessels. It helps if you have a "preferred hand side" either your left hand or your right where the blood vessel is easier to be seen. Then wait summore....

Then the nurse come back to you to insert a kinda big needle into the 'chosen' blood vessel. Usually, i turned away at this time. The pain is very minimal at you feel it only when the needle is inserted. After that full stream blood flow!!!!

I think it took about 30 minutes for my 350 ml pint to be completely filled up. It varies between people. Some people never get it filled up. I've seen two occasions when nurse just take the pint (barely full) and told the donater "that's all". Maybe there is a time limit or something...

Then you'll get this!!! Tarraaa~

After that, the needle will be removed and you are given a few minutes to rest (so that you body can adjust to the blood loss i guess). Cause some people might feel dizzy, or feel like they are fainting. Then they'll give you something to eat :)

Then i'll walk away from the blood donation drive place feeling good & proud that i have give something back to the human race and with a small scar on my hands where the needle has been. hoho~

Playing for Pizza - John Grisham

I've been reading John Grisham's novel since i was in high school, when i was in form 2 i think. He introduced me into US legal world. But Playing for Pizza has nothing to do with the legal world.

This can be considered as a short novel, anyone can easily finish it in a day (but it took me over a month, i think). I am not gonne give a synopsis on this book, you can google it if you want and you'll get lotsa returns.

What i want to say is that, Playing for Pizza prove that sometimes when you feel that your life sucks and you are at an all time low, it just might be a new beginning & a new oppurtunity for you. That life is so much more meaningful and fulfilling when u r doing something you love for the people you love and make you feel like u r a part of the family even when u r far away from home.

for the synopsis you can go to: http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780385525008
or just google it!! :)
